WAIHI DENTAL CLINIC
PROBLEM OF FINANCE LEVY TO BE MADE ON PARENTS [by telegraph OWN correspondent] WAIHI, Friday The committee controlling the Waihi schools' dental clinic has endeavoured to carry on the clinic without taking advantage of the clause in regulations which permits of the imposition of a levy not-exceeding 5s on parents whose children have been receiving dental treatment. However, the time appears to have arrived when this can no longer be done. A statement of finances was submitted by the chairman, Mr. W. M. Wallnutt, at a meeting of the committee last evening, showing that in spite of a generous measure of public support in the way of entertainments, and donations in aid of funds, the debit balance was growing, the outstanding liabilities including £3O due to the Health Department and . other smaller sums. After discussion it was decided to impose a levy of 3s a year on parents with ono child under treatment and to increase the levy with a maximum of os whore two or more children were receiving attention. Arrangements were also made for further functions to augment tho funds.
