SPECTACULAR FIRE
FLAMES DESTROY HOUSE OCCUPANTS' HURRIED EXIT ONLY BIRDS AND DOG SAVED . [BY TX:LEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION"] WELLINGTON. Friday A spectacular fire, which resulted in tho destruction of a two-storey house in Coromandel Street occurred this morning. The five occupants, three adults and two children, escaped in their night attire. No furniture or personal effects were saved from the building owing t.o the rapid progress which the flames made after the outbreak was discovered. Two canaries and a dog were the only possessions the occupants, Mr. and Mrs. Larsen, were able to take with them frojji the burning house. Special precautions were taken to prevent the Ewart Hospital from catching fire. Tho patients, although only 40 or 50 yards away from tho fire, showed no alarm and no damage was done to tho hospital buildings.
