AMERICAN CONDITIONS
BUSINESS TONE IMPROVES There is a much improved business tone in the United States at present, according to Mr. W. J. Truscott, an Auckland business man, who returned by the Mariposa yesterday after « visit to Canada and the United States. This was particularly apparent in the eastern States, Mr. Truscott said. There was some absorption of unemployed labour, although at considerably reduced wages, and there had been thousands willing to work at a rate of lOd an hour. However, there was a firming tendency in commerco generally, accompanied by an improvement in prices.
