HOWICK INTERESTS
A total rate of 2d in the pound was struck at the last meeting of the Howick Town Board, when estimates for the current-financial year were discussed. Under tho terms of the Urban Farm Lands Rating Act, 29 applicants were granted a 10 per cent reduction on the .valuation of their properties. Several members criticised the allocation of £IOO for the extension of the beach eirtfert, but a proposal to delete- th 6 item' was defeated by one vote. It was agreed to accent an oiler from the "%tnte Forestry Department of - 2000 selected trees for planting m reserves in the district.
