JUBILEE REUNION
METHODIST LADIES' GUILD
In connection with the jubilee cele-' brations of the Takapuna Methodist Church, which are being held this week, a reunion of members of the Takapuna Methodist Ladies' Gliild was held yesterday afternoon, and was attended by nearly 100 past and present members. ' » The guests were received by thfe Rev. E. Emmett and Mrs. Emmett, assisted by the president, Mrs. George Winstone, and the joint-secretaries, Mrs. J. E. Tremain and Mrs. R. Foreman. Proceedings opened with a short devotional service, conducted by Mr. Emmett. It was followed by an address by Mrs. Winstone, who spoko on the history and work of the guild since its inauguration. Mrs. Buddie, sen., and Mrs. W. J. Elliot, two' of the original organisers of the guild, were present, and made brief speeches. Mrs. Woolloxall, a past president, and Mrs. A. Gunn, the first secretary of the guild, also spoke. Congratulatory letters from old members were *read, and also good wishes from sister organisations. On behalf of the Takapuna Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Morgan-Richards spoke of tho Welsh association between the Methodist and Presbyterian Churches. A nu/nber of items, including recitations and songs,., were given by Mrs. Everiss, Mrs. Bowman, Miss C. Armour and Miss E. Wrigley. The accompanists were Mrs. Pilkington, Mrs. Melville and Miss Phyllis Lewins. ' Among those present from sister churches were: Mrs. R. H. Trill, Mrs. Walker .and Mrs. J. Hiddlcston. Old members present included: Mrs. L. Hames, Mrs. Prior, Mrs. G. Winstone, Mrs. C. B. Rapcr, Mrs. M. E. Harvey, Mrs. Lusby, Airs. J. Davis, Miss Harvey, Miss Wallace and Miss E. Wilson.
