Miss Joyce Hosking, of Whangarei, is at the Star Hotol. Mrs. W. J. VilWs has returned to Stratford after a visit to Auckland. Mrs. H. Goulding Rico has returned to Gisborno after a visit to Auckland. Mrs. H. C. Baker left New Plymouth this week on a brief visit to Auckland. Mrs. J. R. Reed, of Wellington, Miss Barbara Pinckney, of Hastings, and the Misses Outten and Henry, of Dunedin, are at Hotel Cargen. Mrs. J. S. Paterson, of Belgium, Mrs. I. Clulon. of Pahiatua, and the Misses J. ancl M. Marjoribanks, of Rotorua, are at Hotel Stonehurst. Miss Gladys Laugton is on an extended visit to the North, where she is the guest of her aunt, Mrs. Gladys Samson, Northlands, Bay of Islands. Mrs. Tarrant-Hoskins, of Tahapuke Bay, Bay of Islands, who has been on a motoring tour of the North Island, will return to the North at tho end of the week. A meeting of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held in the Methodist Schoolroom, Northcoto, on Tuesday, Mrs. Hulbeut presiding. Mrs. Carr, secretary of trie Auckland Union, gave an address on The White Ribbon, which celebrates its 35th birthday this weok. Afternoon tea was served?* The Takapuna branch of tho Women's Christian Temperance Union held its monthly meeting in tho Methodist Church Hall, Mrs. Morgan-Richards presiding. Mrs. Reynolds took the devotional part of the meeting. The Rov. Hailey-Trill gave an address on " Loyalty." Afternoon tea was served by tho social committee. • Mrs. Rewa Bennett entertained tho members of the Women's International League and friends at her home, NgatiManu, Parnell, yesterday, the guest of honour being Mrs. M. B. Soljak, who is leaving shortly for Australia. Tho function took tho form of a hangi luncheon, the food having been cooked in a Maori oven or hangi. Instrumental items and Maori songs completed tho afternoon's entertainment.
