NOTORIOUS CORNER
BEND NEAR TE KUITI DANGER TO MOTORISTS The urgent need for some form oi warning visible at night at a particularly dangerous bend about four miles south of Te Ktiiti on the main Auck-land-New Plymouth highway was emphasised in a letter received from a member at a meeting of the council of the Automobile Association last evening. The bend was becoming notorious, and had already been the scene of several accidents, the letter said. A bad feature was that a car climbing the hill threw its lights on the road where the bend started, and a stranger going downhill on a wet night was liable to find himself in trouble before he realised he had to turn instead of continuing straight on into the lights of-an oncoming vehicle. The association decided to send a patrol to examine the spot and have ;v night sign erected if necessary. ,The Alain Highways Board will be approached with a view to having a white safety-fence erected.
