FORGED BANK NOTE
ONE OF EARLIER SERIES WARNING TO THE PUBLIC Another of the forced Bank of Australasia £1 notes, numbers of which were passed in two city stores on Christmas Eve, lfi.'K), lias been put into circulation, and came into possession of the Bank of Australasia yesterday. The note is numbered 885116, and like others of the series it is dated January 1, 1929, and purports to bo signed by ",T. J. Gellert." The counter signature is indecipherable. Although a careful imitation, the forged note will not bear close scrutiny or comparison. The printing is not sharply defined and the quality of the paper is inferior. It is now more than two years since any of these notes were reported in use, but the public is warned to exercise care in case an attempt is being made to circulate a number of them
