UNEMPLOYMENT
Sir,—ln view of the number of unemployed clerical workers is it not somewhat surprising that girls from comfortable —in some cases affluent —homes, hold positions in leading business houses? A false ideal of "independence*' or, perhaps, impatience of parental control, is probably responsible, but the fact remains that the wages, lightly spent on clothes and amusement would save, at least, some of our younger men from the dryrot of enforced idleness. It is the young men of to-day that are the potential home-makers of the future. Ad Astra.
