FOOTBALLERS HURT

MANY PLAYERS INJURED ADMISSIONS TO HOSPITAL Football games on Saturday were again responsible for a number of casualties. Several injured players were taken by St. John ambulances to the Auckland Hospital and in other cases attention was given on the grounds. Concussion was received by Robert John Morman, aged 20, of Glen Eden, who was playing for the Marist third grade League team at Carlaw Park; Lloyd Kernott, aged 20, of Opaheke Road, Papakura, who was playing at Grey Lynn for Papakura third grade; and lan Cauldray, aged 18, of .32 Kichmond Avenue, Northcotc, who was playing for Northcote third grade at Oneliunga. All were admitted to hospital, but their condition last evening was not serious. Playing for Northcote second grade at Western Springs, Edwin Taylor, aged 21, of Queen Street, Northcote, fractured his leg, and was admitted to the Auckland Hospital. Several other footballers, who \xeie taken by ambulance to the hospital, Mere treated in the casualty ward, being later able to return to their homes. In a senior grade soccer match for Onehunga, at the Oneliunga grounds, F. E. Scott, a member of H.M.S. Diomede team, received injuries to the ankle. Two Akarana third grade League players, J. Howley, of 62 College Hill, Ponsonby, and R. Stephens, of Waverley Street, City, were injured in matches at Onehunga. Howley fractured his right thumb and Stephens suffered injuries to the back. At the same grounds, M. Grace, of 17 Auckland Road, Royal Oak, received injuries to the left arm. At Paeroa during the Rugby match between High School Old Boys and Netherton, one of the Netherton players, W. Fisher, received serious head injuries. Ho was rendered unconscious and was later admitted to the Paeroa Hospital. During the Rugby match between Terrier and City senior teams at Te Arolia on Saturday R. Gibbs, a City forward, broke his left arm above the wrist, and had to be removed to hospital. R. Johnson, a member of the Waihou senior team, had to bo carried off the field following a hard knock on the back.
