ROTORUA NEWS

A pleasant surprise farewell party was given recently by the members of the St. Francis 3rd Order, for their president, Mrs. A. Rowe, who is leaving Rotorua to make her homo in Morrinsville. During the evening presentations were made to the guest of honour by Mr. A. Cole. A handsome clock was the gift of Father Hazlett and a china 'tea set and suede correspondence case was the gift of the society. Among those present were: Mrs. Windier, Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Goodyer, Mrs Park, Mrs: Carroll, Mrs. McCarthy, Mrs. Lawson, .Airs. Te Kiri, Miss B. Chambers, Miss Fattcrick, Father O'Callaghan, Father Hazlett and Mr. A. Cole. Miss Doria Griffiths was hostess at a gathering of the members of the afternoon literary circle of the Kot'orua Women's Club who met at her home to read A. A. Milno's play "Success." The drawing room was attractively arranged with bowls of spring jonquils and cornflowers and red holly berries. Miss Griffiths received the guests wearing a frock of flame corded velvet. Those present included Mrs. R. Griffiths, Mrs. F. La Troho Hill, Mrs. H. Bertram, Mrs. H. H. Davis, Mrs. W. S. Wall is, Miss M. Mactier, Miss Vera Griffiths, Miss J. Pcarce, Miss G. La Troho Hill and Miss Hazel Lord.
