ROWING CLUB DANCE A picturesque scene was presented in the Alexander Hall on Thursday evening, when the annual dance of the Hamilton Rowing Club was held there. Red and white paper decorations, representing the club's colours, a large banner, in the form of the club's monogram and badge, pampas grass, dyed red, punga fern fronds, and bright lights subdued by red and white shades, transformed tho hall into a magnificent setting for the many jjretty frocks worn by tho dancers. At each end of the hall suspended amid myriads of streamers were two huge fans made of pampas grass in red and white, while tho walls were gay with lloral plaques arranged with fern fronds and pampas grass. In the supper-room a delicious supper was laid on tables charmingly arranged with graceful palms shading vases of red and white flowers and huge paper posies. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Hay, who are at present living in Auckland, were host and hostess, Mrs. Hay receiving the guests in a frock of black georgette and lace. The ladies on the committee who were present included: Mrs. W. Bayly, who wore a frock of geranium pink lace; Mrs. W. Sweeney's was black lace over gold lame; Mrs. A. Cross, navy blue crepe de chine; Miss A. Hallidav, beige lace with cyclamen and beige ribbon girdle; Miss A. Ander, parchment souple satin with violet velvet sash; Miss J. Cliffe, ivory taffeta; Miss M. Blyth, cherry and white satin; Miss J. Sweeney, emerald green satin beaute; Miss D. Speight, lime tatfeta with briar rose velvet cape; Miss H. Speight, pale mauve crepe de chine, worn with violet velvet cape; Miss M. Mercer, powder lloral georgette. Among the guests present were: Mrs. H. T. Foster, Mrs. K. K. Wraaee. Mrs. E. Webber, Mrs. A.
