DANGEROUS BEND

MAIN NEW PLYMOUTH ROAD TRAP FOR THK UNWARY COUNTY COUNCIL'S CONCERN [by TKI.KGKAI'H —OWN CORRESPONnEXT] TE KUITT. Saturday Reference was made at a meeting of the Waitomo County Council yesterday to the dangerous hairpin bend on the main New Plymouth Road, about four miles from Te Kuiti. It was pointed out that there had been several accidents there lately and the bend constituted a danger to traffic, particularly people passing through who were not familiar with the road. One member stated it was a disgrace that such a bend should exist on a main highway. The engineer pointed out that it would be difficult to increase the visibility to any great extent and that the width of the corner was sufficient for throe cars. It was decided to refer the matter to the Public Works Department.
