CITY MILK SUPPLY
Sir—On behalf of some farmer friends of mine 1 would like to point out a few facts about eitv milk supply from the producers' point of view, which is to tho eftect that it is simply impossible for them to carry on at the present price, which has panned out for the past month at 2Jd per gallon, or 5Jd per lb butterfat net, alter paying cartage, etc.; just about enough to pay for the labour entailed in milking tho cows, and nothing at all to pay for their grazing or pasturing, and nothing to pay for the farmers' . keep, etc. On the other side of the picture the city dweller is getting his milk at 3d per quart, instead of od a year or so ago. One penny per quart extra would just make the difference between starvation and a living wage to the dairyman. According to the press a committee has been appointed to try and find a solution of the problem, and it is to bo sincerely hoped that they will be successful, and that at the earliest possible date for the farmers' sake. Clevedon. C. H. Melt.sop.
