THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE i J heavy buying orders Developments in tho investment market on Australian Stock Exchanges during the past few days were reflected jn heavy dealing on the Auckland Exchange yesterday. Under the influence of lurge Australian buying orders the market was generally firm, with the banks' ,group receiving particular attention. Government loans were steady to firm. Turnover in banks was the largest for some time and covered a wide range. Commercials of Australia advanced strongly on sale at 14s 9d to 15s. For more buyers were available at 15s Id, sellerst asking 5d more than the previous day at 15s 3d. The preference issue rose Is to £8 17s. English, Scottish and Australians were secured unaltered at £5 and Unions were lifted Is to change hands at £B. Further supplies of Unions were held for £8 ss. New Zcalands also participated in the general activity. Early dealing took place 2Ad dearer at 45s 10Jd, after which they advanced on sale to 465. Two parcels were secured at this figure, which remained on offer for more. A rise of Is 6d took place in the D preference issue, which was done at 31s 6d, with a subsequent easier movement to 30s 9d. There was a recovery in insurance following the recent easier trend. New Zealands were placed 8d better at 49s 3d and South British hardened 6d in a deal at 655. Firm conditions prevailed throughout the market. Goldsbrough-Morts were taken a penny firmer at 24s Id. In breweries Tooths were in firm demand at 365, a rise of 3d, and New Zealands had sale 9d higher at 29s 9d. Buying support strengthened throughout miscellaneous. Burns-Philp were dealt in at 50s 6d, compared with the last local sale a year ago at 365. Colonial Sugars were sought 5s dearer at £56 15s, but holders were inactive. New Zealand Newspapers were obtained unaltered at 24s 6d and Wilsons Cements hardened 3d in transactions at 30s 9d, with an intervening sale at 30s Bd. Increased business was done in min-
