NEED FOR RAISING URGED MINIMUM OF 16 YEARS [by TELEGRArH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, Tuesday "A barbaric law savouring more of India than enlightened New Zealand," was the caustic description applied to the law fixing the minimum marriage ago for females at 12 years and males at 14 years, during the annual meeting of tho Society for the Protection of Women and Children last evening. It was urged that the marriage age be raised to 16.
