NEW CARGO VESSELS
TRADE WITH NEW ZEALAND CONSTRUCTION IN BRITAIN [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Tuesday Three motor cargo liners are being built in Britain for the United King-dom-New Zealand service. Two of these ships arc for the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company, and the third is for the Commonwealth and Dominion Line. The Shaw-Savill vessels have a capacity of about 12,000 tons, and are 500 ft. long. They have refrigerating space of approximately 500,P00 cubic feet. It is understood the service speed will be between 14J and 15 knots. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line vessel will be 486 ft. in length, and will have a beam of 65ft. 3in. She will have dead-weight capacity, after allowing for refrigeration and insulation, of 11,250 tons. Her refrigerating space will be 463,000 cubic feet. The service speed of the vessel will be 15j knots.
