DEGREES IN DIVINITY
ADVOCACY BY CHURCHES CHRISTCHURCH DEPUTATION [BV TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday A request that the Canterbury College board of governors should support the application to the Senate that the University of New Zealand should conduct examinations and grant degrees in divinity was made by a deputation of ministers which waited on the board yesterday. The churches represented were the Anglican, Presbyterian, Methodist and Church of Christ. In reply to a question by a member of the board, the Rev. J. Allen (Presbyterian) said he thought there was no reason why there should not be two parallel courses in the university calendar for Protestant and Roman Catholic students, and parallel examinations for the two groups. The board decided to refer tho whole question to the college committee.
