YACHT ASHORE

NO TRACE OF OWNER ANXIETY FOR SAFETY THE DINGHY MISSING Anxiety is felt for the safety of Mr. Harold Edwin Lamont, ati orchardist, of Parakakau, noar Kaukapakapa, whose 26ft. keel yacht Cynthia was found ashore near, the Dcvonport Yacht Club's skids on Monday evening. The jib was set, but nobody was on board, and the dinghy was missing. Mr. Lamont, who bought tho yacht last August, had made a number of trips by himself, and left Silverdale for Waiwera last Wednesday. He sailed from Waiwera on Thursday, intending to go to Waihcke. Mr. Lamont was seen in Auckland on Saturday morning, but details,of his subsequent movements arc not known. A party of hoys saw the yacht go ashore with nobody on board and informed Mr. W. L. Fletcher, secretary of the Devon port Yacht Club, who notified tho police. He anchored tho yacht a short distance off-shore. On board the yacht were found Mr. Lamont's coat, with a watch, which was going, a stretcher, food and cooking equipment. There were also two anchors.

' Although there was no sign of Mr. Lamont last evening, it is considered possible "by his relatives that, he is safe somewhere outside Auckland and ignorant of the fact that his yacht went ashore. The Cynthia was built 26 years ago by Messrs. Ncilsen and Pollock, of Kawhia, who brought her to Auckland. The yacht was originally known as tho Eona. She was bought by Mr. Lamont from Mr. J. Dale, of Mill'ord.
