CAR OVER BANK
MISHAP AT SHARP BEND DRIVER ESCAPES INJURY [by telegraph —ovrx correspondent] TE KUITI, Satmday Another accident, the second within a few days, occurred last night on the dangerous hairpin bend about four miles from Te Kuiti on the main road to New Plymouth. A commercial traveller's car proceeding to Te Kuiti, in ascending the hill, apparently stalled while negotiating the bend and start to run backwards. Before the driver could stop ■ the car it had left the road and slid down the bank for a distance of about 30rt., finally coming to rest against a fence. The driver escaped injury and the car was not damaged to any extent. At " daybreak this morning a breakdown truck went out to the scene of the accident and after some difficulty the car was hauled back to the road and after minor adjustment was able to proceed on its journey to Auckland.
