COLLISION AT CORNER

TAXI AND MOTOR-TRUCK BOTH DRIVERS IN HOSPITAL [from our own correspondent] "SVHANGAREI, Saturday As a result of a collision last night at the Water Trough corner, which is the intersection of five streets, Mr. Hugh McKenzie, a taxi-driver for White Top Taxis, Limited, and Mr. John Norton, a truck-driver, are in the Whangarei District Hospital suffering from concussion and abrasions. Mr. McKenzie also received a cut to the forehead necessitating the insertion of several stitches. The taxi was travelling toward Mill Road and the truck was coming down Kamo Road. Heavy rain was falling at the time. When the collision occurred, Mr. McKenzie's head went through the windscreen of his taxi. Mr. Norton was also cut by flying glass. The front left-hand side of the taxi was badly damaged, but the truck escaped with minor damage.
