ANNUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS RESULTS OF OPENING SHOOT The annual championship meeting of tho New Zealand gun clubs, which is being conducted by tho Auckland Gun Club at its grounds at Pakuranga, commenced on Saturday morning. There wa3 a representative gathering of shooters from all parts of tho North Island and Canterbury, and a largo number of visitors. The 4-bird eye-opener match was divided by C. Seddon (Hamilton), 21yds, D. Campbell (Hastings), 21yda, H. Howlott (Napier), 21yds, and D. S. Ewing (Auckland), 18yds, all shooting the possible. Tho £SO open match attracted 23 competitors, and resulted in a win for W. C. Whitney (Auckland), 18yds, with the possible of 14 birds. G. Seddon (Hamilton), 21yds, D, Campbell (Hastings), 21yds, W. Woolven (Hamilton),' 20yds, T. Parker (Napier), 19yds, J. Donnelly (Auckland), 19yds, R. E. Farrow (Waitoa), 18yds, and C. H. Drysdale (Auckland), lGyds, divided second and third money with 13 birds each. 11. Hooper (Waipukurau), 17yds, D. S. Ewing (Auckland), 18yds, S. Roberts (Auckland), 17yds, and E. J. Schofield (Auckland), 16yds, all shot 12 each. A first-miss-out sweep was divided by S. Anderson (Methven), 21yds, E. G.- Watkins (Rangiora), 17yds, and E.V- Schofield (Auckland), 16yds, on tho eighth round.
A ten-bird match was ' divided by H. Clinch (National Park), 19yds, T. Parker (Nnpier), 18yds, and R. H. Bartley (Auckland), 12yds, with the possible. Tho new class and pointß Bystem of dividing prizo money was introduced for the first time at a Now Zealand championship meeting, and considerablo differences of opinion existed as to tho merits of same. The first of tho threo Dominion championships will bo decided to-day. commencing at 0 a.m. A large number of additional shooters from all parts of tho Dominion will tako part in the remaining fivo days' fixtures.
