SEAT OF GOVERNMENT
Sir, —Under "Notable Anniversary" in Saturday's issue it is stated: —"It was Captain Hobson who was instrumental in transferring tho seat of (ioveVnmcnt from Kororaeka to Auckland." As you are no doubt aware, tho seat of Government was at no" time situated at Kororareka. When in tho Bay of Islands it was located at Okiato, which was also known as Bussell. Tho fact that the name Bussell was later transferred to Kororareka seems to have given the idea to many that the Government seat was once at Kororareka. G. H. Mair. 11 Kitchener Road, Takapuna, May 27, 1933.
