OLD SHIP'S GUNS
CAPTAIN COOK RELICS On a recent visit to Ship Cove, Queen Charlotte Sound, Mr. H. J. Stacc, acting with tho authority of tho Captain Cook Memorial Committee, lifted from their carriages the two old ship's guns stationed at tho base of the monument, and brought tho carriages to Marshlands. When the cannon were received from tho British Admiralty a few years ago the wooden carriages were in a decaying condition*, and their exposure to the elemonts ever since has not improved their condition. Mr. Stace has a proposal to submit to the Memorial Committee in connection with replacing the wooden carriages with reproductions in concrete, and a meeting of tho committeo will bo hold shortly to consider his suggestions.
