Included in' iho party were Messrs. J. Donald, N. E. iAitken, H. F. Wood, H. Martindale, O, Cox and G. Jones. Mr. Donald brought back a yearling filly by Rossendale whicli he purchased at tho Bales. Ho expressed tho opinion that the sales were a decided success. Good prices were obtained for the pick of the lots. Messrs. Aitken and Wood returned with Autopay, They wcro disappointed with their horse petting left in tho Doncaster but recouped their losses. the same day on Bayacre, while on the second day Autopay's win was very profitable. As in the Thompson Handicap ho camo from the rear with a great run. He raced sourly on the two concluding days and has had enough for the time being. He will be spelled and brought in again for tho spring racing. G. Jones, private trainer to Mr. W. It. Kemball in Melbourne, brought back Posy and Doveliko, who failed to stand training and will bo sent to the stud. Jones, who has won 22 races in Victoria, will return oil May 11 with seven of tho young horses of Mr. Kemball's that have been prepared for the trip by Mr. Kemball's trainers here. O. Cox brought back Golden Hair. He says that the filly probably went over ftt the most difficult period of the year, but all I the samo he thinks she is not far below Australia's best. She got badly left in tho Champagne Stakes, her second start. Sho may return in the spring. Other horses 011 board the Monowai were La Moderne, First Acre and Bayacre, who were railed home later in the afternoon.

Tucker, the hurdle and steeplechase horseman who rode Copey to victory in the Great Northern Steeplechase last year and has since been very successful in Victoria, arrived in Wellington by the Monowai from Sydney yesterday. Tucker, who had his first experience with jumpers with J. Fryer's team at Hawera, will rido Copey and probably Greeji, Linnet in their jumping engagements at the Egmont, Wanganui and Great Northern meetings. G. W. NEWS PLANS AUSTRALIAN TRIP LIKELY . TRAINING AT HAWERA AGA KHAN'S MILE GALLOP [from our own correspondent] HAWERA, Saturday The winding-up gallops for next week's meeting were performed in fine but dull weather this morning. The outside of the course proper was available for fast work and was in good order. La Crown ran seven furlongs in 1.39 L without being bustled at any stage. Tentcall (W. E. Pine), starting smartly on the inside, led March Alone (Shield) and Attentive (Feasy) over six furlongs and was a long neck in front of them at the finish in 1.22}. The first three furlongs took 41s. Awaken (J. M. Pine) and Carfex (Vaughan) started from the mile and a-ciuarter post, but went only at three-quarter pace until reaching the five furlongs, where the pace was increased. Timed frojn the five Carfex was two lengths in front of Awaken in Two' visitors, King Win and Lapstone. looking in excellent order, did easy pacework on the two-year-old track. / Grey Papa was given barrier practice and afterwards did half-pace work. Green Linnet and Haunui were exercised on the two-year-old track, finishing their tasks smartly. Aga Khan (Feasy) and Gibraltar (Shield) were associated over a mile. Aga Khan made the pace, and after covering the first three furloygs in 41 |s, always had the advantage, finishing three lengths in front 111 Chief Lino and Davistock worked on tho two-year-old track.
