YESTERDAY'S SALES RETURN ON INVESTMENTS Following is a list of yesterday's transactions on Now Zealand Stock Exchanges. In the second column is giventho return, based on tho last annual dividend, from investment at the quoted price. In calculating the return on shares in companies which pay their dividends outside New Zealand the exchange rates have not been taken into, consideration. Tho return on 4 per cent Government loan's includes redemption. In tho case of 3£ per cent loans, the return is for interest alone and covers only tho period for which the loans are tax-free. No return is given on local body securities in the meantime.

Melbourne sales included:—Metropolitan Gas, £l2 10s; North Broken Hill, 725. THE FLAX INDUSTRY LITTLE BUSINESS REPORTED Conditions are dull in the flax market, present offers c.i.f.e. London ranging from about £l3 5s for low fair to £l4 5s for high fair. Little business is offering, bub it is reported some sales have been made to Australia, which can now obtain supplies at a cheaper rate than prior to the rise in New ZealandLondon exchange. Flax fibre suffers severely from competition with sisal, but it is reported that sisal growers are not replanting extensively. MOTUROA OILFIELDS The report of Moturoa Oilfields, Limited, for the week ended April 29, is as follows: —"No 2 well: Production for week, 110 barrels. No.. 3 well: Cleaned out to 2160 feet. Now swabbing in 6-inch casing. Keeping water level down to bottom. Strong gas making from 2105 feet to 2160 feet. The well is making 50 barrels of wator a day, with showing of oil." PUKEKOHE POTATOES [from our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Monday Supplies of table potatoes at Pukckoho are woll reduced and crops now are mostly for seed. The price fluctuated during last week, consequent on an irregular demand, and prices range from 4s to 5s per cwt. f.o.r. Sales of onions are slow, the price being from 4s 6d to Gs per cwt. Cauliflowers are quoted at 10s 6d a sack and cabbages'at 7s a sack. QUOTATIONS FOR SILVER British Wirelesß RUGBY. April 29 Silver is quoted to-day at 19£ d spot and forward, compared with 20d, both positions, yesterday.

LONDON BUTTER MARKET The London market for butter is steady, values being unchanged. Joseph Nathan and Company, Limited, has-re-ceived the following cablegram from its London principals, Trengrouse and Nathan, Limited:—Butter: 70s to 71s, Cheese: White, 39s 6d; coloured, 445. Both markets are quiet but steady.
