INTER-PROVINCIAL CONTEST [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'! DUNEDIN, Sunday An inter-provincial contest between Canterbury and Otago along tho lines of tho Norden Cup competition was included in the Otago Swimming Centre's carnival last night. Canterbury won tho contest, scoring victories in tho water polo by 1 goal to 0 and in tho soven-a-side flying squadron race. Otago won tho diving. In an invito" tion 50 yards scratch raco W. J. Jarvis, Otago, beat D. H. Symes, Canterbury, by 2ft in 25 l-ss. Following tho breaking three weeks ago of tho New Zealand intermediate boys' 100 yards breaststrokq record of 75 3-5s by 4-ss, R. Geddes mado a further successful attempt on the record, covering tho distance in the astonishing time of 73 4-ss. This is only 3-5s lower than the senior Australian record.
