THE CITY MARKETS FAIR DEMAND FOR FRUIT VEGETABLE VALUES RISE Little movement occurred in tho prices paid for fruit at the City Markets yesterday, lato levels being generally maintained. The demand lor most lines was fair. Apples, which advanced slightly in values earlier in tho week, sold at practically unchanged prices. Pears, oranges and lemons were also little altered in price. Grapc>3 were less plentiful and a firming tendency was apparent. There was also a slight upward movement in rates for tomatoes, which are now falling oil' so far as quantity is concerned. The vegetable 'market was well supplied with all seasonable lines, which were fairly keenly sought. BRITISH CLOCK TRADE Information received by the British Trade Commissioner's office in New Zealand states that since the imposition of a British duty on clocks, great progress has been made in their manufacture in England.
