MR. HARRY DEARTH i * ACTOR AND VOCALIST (Received April 19/ 8.5 p.m.) LONDON, April 19 The death is announced of Mr. Harry Dearth, actor and vocalist. Mr. Harry Dearth was born in Lon-> don in 1876. For some time he was a pupil at the Royal College of Music. He made his first appearance on the concert platform in 1894 and his first on the stage at the Lyceum Theatre, London, in 1897 as II Commendatore in " Don Giovanni." He was a member of the Beecham Opera Company, 1910; appeared in various productions at Daly's Theatre, London, 1912-13; Drury Lane, 1916 and 1918; and in 1919 visited Australia. His favourite role was Klosy in " Muguette." MR. E. J. SULLIVAN PROMINENT IN ART CIRCLES (Received April 19, 8.5 p.m.) LONDON, April 19 The death is reported of Mr. E. J. Sullivan, artist, Mr. Edmund J. Sullivan was corresponding member of the Society of Viennese Artists, a member of the council of the International Society of Sculptors, Painter® and Gravers; late lecturer on book illustration and litho- ' graphy, Goldsmiths' College, University of London; and late examiner in pictorial and industrial design to the Board of Education. He was born in London in 1869, a son of Mr. A. Sullivan, A.R.C.A. He studied art in Hastings under his father and was on the staff of the Graphic in 18S9, the Daily Graphic 1890-2 and later the Pall Mall Budget. MR. FRED HALL LABOUR POLITICIAN (Received April 19, 8.5 p.m.) LONDON, April 19 The death has occurred of Mr. Fred Hall, IM.P., known as tho " father of tho Labour Party." Mr. Fred Hall, who was born in 18").5, had represented the Normauton division of Yorkshire since 1905. He started life as a miner and was treasurer of tho' Yorkshire Miners' Association, 1898, and its agent, 1901-19. He was a Government Whip in tho first Labour Government, 15)10. and a Lord Commissioner of the Treasury, 1924.
