BEST ORE ON CRUST RESULTS AT COROMANDEL [by telegram—own correspondent] COROMANDEL, Wednesday All the available ore from the boulders found near the Coromandel Hospital has now "been, treated at the Union Beach battery for the C'oromandol County Council. It was found that tho crust of tho boulders was the richest part, the inside not being nearly so payable. Tho ore averaged about an ounce to the ton, the saving being 60 per cent of the values. Recovery of tho balance would bo possible only by cyanide treatment, which cannot bo done at Coromandel. The supervisor, Mr. F. H. Shepherd, states that boring on the spot to a depth of 20 feet has not disclosed any further ore underground.-i t is intended to sink a shaft on private property near by and then drive in an easterly direction with the object of meeting the reef from which tho boulders are supposed to have come. The return put in to tho ruining executive shows that nine tons of era were treated for an estimated return of £27. Residues worth about & will not be treated.
