HOSPITAL AUXILIARY

MONTH'S ACTIVITIES Continued assistance for tho poor and needy of Auckland is being rendered by tho Auckland Hospital Auxiliary, according to tho monthly reports presented at tho meeting of the council yesterday afternoon. The president, Mrs. A. J. Kidd, presided. The depot report stated that '163 garments had been distributed during March, and 1390 miscellaneous donations had been received. Patients taken from the Auckland Hospital to their homes numbered four, orders for food had been given to eight people, 47 families had been helped with clothing and six pairs of boots had been bought for patients. An offer from tho Waiuku Women's Institute to help this winter with the sewing was gratefully accepted. Gratitude was also expressed to the girls of tho Mercantile Auxiliary Club for a donation of 180 garments and to the Central Fire Brigade for a donation of uniform fire jackets. A display of a month's work had been held by tho sewing committee and had been largely attended by tho public of Auckland. The donation from this committee for tho month amounted to 350 garments. The Mount Eden branch's report stated that Sister Mulcock had visited lour cases during March and Mrs. Duffus had visited six homes. A perambulator for one woman and a chair for an invalid had been purchased. Four orders for health foods had been given by the Onehunga branch. A concert given at the infirmary by Mr. George Moody's Co-optimists' Club had been greatly appreciated by the inmates. Tho purchasing and distributing committee reported that an offer had been received whereby parcels would bo transported for the committee free of charge.
