PAPER MONEY
Sir, —Your correspondent Alexander Fraser is hardly fair to the New Zealand Labour Party when he states that it advocates the issue of an unlimited supply of paper money. What the Labour Party recommends is tho control of the issue of paper money by tho State, instead of .by privatelyowned institutions. In this policy the Labour Party has the support of all who maintain that inflation or deflation of the currency must be controlled, not for profit, but to suit tho varying conditions of industry and production. Controlled issues of paper money would enable ns to pay our way as wo go, and not leave to our children, and those who come after them, a load of debt due to our neglect to provide a money system that records our services one to another.
