CITY MAYORAL ELECTION

Sir, —On reading Wednesday's Hehamj ro the coming Mayoral election, I noticed someone eager to rush into print, referred to the stupidity of the Labour Representation Committee in selecting Mr. Mason to stand for tho Mayoral chair, stating that he head too much to do already. I venture to say ho is not as fully occupied as tho Mayor of Christchurch, who is both a member of Parliament and Mayor of the city, and under his administration the council pays 14s 6d per day to their workmen. Rates are also tho lowest in any part of Now Zealand to-day. Why not have a Labour council in Auckland, who would both reduce the rates and inereaso the workers' wages. Christchurch is an example of what can be done by a Labour council. It is up to the workers of this city to use their vote and support the Labour candidates at the forthcoming election. A Membkr OF this L.R.C.
