JOCKEY THREATENED
ANONYMOUS LETTER "SHELL CONTAINING ACID" 11. Morlcy, one of Western Australia's most successful jockeys, recently received an anonymous letter from a man, threatening to shoot him, and disfigure with acid his wife, child, la other, and sister-in-law if he docs not advertise in a specified code, information about horses "that have to win races " The writer, whoso communication was in block letters, stated that he was down to his last £SO and was getting desperate, and that when ho won I'IOOO he would release Morley, as he wanted to return to Melbourne. The man said he had backed l\lorley's mounts when they were "crook," and that if Morley ignored his request, bis career as a jockey would bo ended with a noiseless and smokeless revolver, which would, also fire a shell containing acid. lie add6d that he Mas a skilled revolver shot, and might shoot Morley when on a horse or in a motor-car. Detectives are investigating tlio matter.
