SURF LIFE-SAVING
Mcintosh cup contest Surf life-saving as a competitive sport is usually associated with the bright summer months, so a crowd on Takapuna Beach on Sunday last was quite unexpected hv members of the Lvall Bay (Wellington), Takapuna and Alii ford clubs when they competed" for the Mcintosh Cup. The competition was close throughout, not much separating the teams. A little disappointment was felt when only Mi I ford and Lyall Bay took the water together in the sevenmen run out. Takapuna was allowed to do its run out earlier owing to a member of the team having to leave unexpectedly for the Waikato. However, in the four-man event three teams raced together, C. J. Sid ford, provincial champion licltman, putting up fastest time for the Takapuna team and gaining a surprise victory over 0. Oleson, of Afilford. The Lvall Bay team showed up particularly well in all team movements, but lost points in tho water.
