NEW TENNIS RECORD
MISS J. H ARTI GAN'S WINS The most recent performance of Miss Joan Hartigan in winning the women's singles, as well as the doubles with Mis:s K. Woodward, in the South Australian lawn tennis championships at Adelaide shows that, although she is still a junior, Miss Hartigan is already in a class by herself among tho women players of tho Commonwealth. At the age of 18 years she won the Now South Wales as well as tho Now Zealand titles. She followed theso performances by winning the Victorian championship last November, and in January she captured the Australian title from Mrs. C. Buttsworth, who had held it for the two previous years. To have won five major championships within the short period of 15 months while still a junior is a new record in tennis circles.
