FREEZING DISPUTE
OFFICIAL TERMINATION NO ACTION DECIDED UPON Although action in the direction of officially terminating tho freezing works dispute, which has continued since last October, has been considered, no definite decision has been reached by tho Federation of Freezing Workers' Unions. A meeting of representatives of provincial unions met in Wellington recently and considered thequestion. The conference, which was an ordinary executive gathering, was to have met as a council of action with definite authority to act in the dispute, but did not meet except as an executive. It was stated ballots would be taken by provincial unions throughout New Zealand on the question, but this has not yet been done. At a meeting held in Auckland a ballot was taken, and it is understood the majority of those present were in favour of terminating the strike. The decision reached, however, represented only tlie feeling of the meeting, and not the wishes of all members of the Auckland Union.
