Griee, apprentice jockey, against their disqualification for six months by the judicial committee of the Whangarei Racing CI ill) were upheld by the Auckland District Uauing Committee yesterday. The case concerned the running of Princess Star in the Portland Hack Handicap at Whangarei on April (3, and the disqualifications were imposed 011 the ground that there had been a contravention of the rule relating to a horse being run on its merits. The District Committee, in allowing the appeals, ordered the deposits of £5 each to be returned to the appellants. Mr. M. M. McCalluin presided, and Messrs. 10. W. Alison, senjor, M. M. Louisson, D. McLcod, T. Jmpey and W. Claud Motion were also present. .Messrs. L. W. Nelson and K. .1. Pennie were unable to sit as they are also members of the judicial committee of the Whangarei Pacing Club. Mr. Nelson represented the judicial committee at the hearing. Mr. C. Comer, chief stipendiary steward, was unable to attend owing to illness.
