WOMEN'S DIVISION

THE FARMERS' UNION The monthly meeting of the Auckland branch of the women's division of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was held in the Farmers' Trading Company board room last week. Mrs. J. T. F. Mitchell, presided. Mrs. Edward Allen, shairman of the Exchange Shop Committee, ,reported very favourably on the business done during the two weeks that the shop had been in existence, and expressed confidence in its future development. The -exchange shop is now established at the junction of Broadway and Bemuera Road, Newmarket. It was also reported that the first issue of the New Zealand Country Woman, a monthly paper which is to be the official organ of the women's division, will be published in May and is expected to prove of interest and value to the members. Mrs. Hoey was elected convener of the circle entrusted with the visiting of the sick. '> Mr. J. P. Kalaugher and Mr. O'Donrell, vice-president and secretary of the A. Mid P. Association, addressed the members on the proposed women's^ division court in the forthcoming "Winter Exhibition. Mr. O'Donnell also touched on the remarkable work of tho Country Women's Association of New South "Wales, which he had been much interested to see during a recent visit, when he was agreeably impressed with the businesslike manner in which their conference was conducted. Referring to the activities of the branch during the year. Mrs. Lane said the branch had assisted several families in the district with parcels of clothing, in addition to donating £5 to the Jasper Calder fund. MOIUUNSVILLE The annual meeting of the Morrinstillo branch of the Women's Division Was very well attended. The president reported an increased membership and H great deal of work done during the year. The balance-sheet disclosed a most satisfactory position. Two housekeepers have been kept employed continuously as well as a number of casual workers. Donations of money and goods were Made to the unemployment relief, ths Sunshine League and other deserving causes. Presentations 011 behalf of the members were made to the president, Mrs. •lenner, and to the honorary secretary and treasurer, Mrs. Marx. Bouquets Vcro presented to Miss Turnbull and Mrs. Harnett.
