Wiseman, of Gillies 'Avenue, Epsom, left yesterday for the Chateau, Tongariro. Miss Rose Hardio Neil, who has been spending a holiday with Mrs. Arthur Hudson, of Dunedin, has returned to Auckland Mrs. W. Granger Johnson arrived from Suva by tho Niagara yesterday on :i holiday visit to Auckland and is stayins; with her mother, Mrs. M. L. Jackton, of 1G Balfour Road, Parnell. Mrs. R- Linklater, of Colyton, Feildinf, will arrive in Auckland to-morrow, wlTere she will be tho guest of Mrs. Jl. W. Paterson, St. Stephen's Avenue, Parnell. f Mrs. Sholto Crowley, of London, arrived by the Monowai yesterday, and is staying with INlrs. E. 11. Cucksey, of Sandringham. She intends to go on later to visit relatives in the Waikato. The Waimauku branch of the League of Mothers held a meeting in the local hnll, Mrs. T. Charter presiding over a very good attendance. The speaker for the afternoon was Mrs. Boot (Helensville), who gave a very interesting address entitled " A Woman's Throne." Afternoon tea, served by tho hostess, jfrs. L. Wightman, concluded a very pleasant afternoon. Miss Lillie Davis, of Carlisle, who was mado a member of the Order of the British Empire in the New Year honour?, was recently presented with a wallet of treasury notes and a gold wrist watch by the citizens of Carlisle in appreciation of her temperance and child welfare work in tho city during the past 1(3 years. Miss Davis founded the " Sister Lillio " shelter for poor children of at Silloth. The Oddfellows lodges of Kumeu combined on Saturday evening to hold an Easter dance in tho Public Hall. There was a good attendance of members and their friends who enjoyed the latest dance music. Supper arrangements were in tho hands of Mesdames Garry and Dane and Misses Harrison. Dane and Barnes. Among those present were: — Misses A. Lee, Thyra Shuttleworth, L. Barnes, Ina Harrison, Nance Adams, K. Reber, Thora Dane, J. Gooding, E. Moore, Joyce Petford, Jean Newlovo, X. jurakovich, D. Moss, Kath. Petford, Cane, Marjorie Goldstone, Gladys Orme, Hunter and Phyllis Petford. The programme for the evening was in the hands of Bro. C. Glogloski.
