Miss Vera Hav, of Grafton Road, is spending a holiday at Arran Bay, WaiJiekc. Mrs. R. Corson lias taken up her residence at Mount Eden after a long holiday at Napier. Mrs. Nelson Levien has returned to her homo in Remit era after an extended visit to the South. Mrs. M. Davis, of Northcote, has returned from a visit to England, extending over eight months. Mrs. Coates, wife of the Right Hon. J. G. Coates, is spending the Easter holidays at Matakolio. Mrs. F. E. Everitt, of Wanganui, Mrs. E. F. Fossey, of Hawcra, and Miss P. Yarr, of Tirnaru, arc at the Central Hotel. Mrs. E. E. Hill, of "Wellington, Mrs. S. J. Hedge, of Pacroa, and Mrs. E. Chafer, of Tauranga, aro at the Station Hotel. Mrs. J. T. Evans, of Wellington, Mrs. L. C. Rathbone, of Waingaro, ami Miss M. Swanson, of Melbourne, aro at Hotel Cargen. An enjoyable danco was held in the Beach Haven Cabaret on Saturday evening under the auspices of the Birkdalo Tennis Club. Among those spending the holidays at Rotoruaare:—Misses Alice Wilson, Gay Henderson, Marjorio Beveridge, Ercda and Bub Suter. A most successful dance was held at Coatesvilie on Saturday evening in aid of tlio local hall funds. It is proposed to hold dances more frequently during the winter. Mr. and Mrs. W. Shaw, of Stratford, and Mr. and Mrs. K. Morey, of New Plymouth, motored to Auckland on Friday and* are spending Easter with relatives at Royal Oak. Auckland visitors to Hamilton for the Viekerv — J l)'Arcy-Smith wedding, which took place on Saturday were:— M iss Cherry Anderson, Miss Molly Mitchelson, Miss D. and Miss W. Plummer, Miss Audrey Hutchinson, Miss Tracy-Tnglis, Miss Joan Robertson and Mrs. D. N. Chambers. A decision to form a branch of tho Catholic Women's League was reached at a meeting held in Whakatane last week. The president and secretary of the Auckland branch were present and outlined the aims and objects of the society to a large number of prospective members. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mrs. W. A. McCrackcn; vice-presidents, Miss Lynch and Mrs. Withy; secretary, Miss K. Chadwick; treasurer, Mrs. C. Barr. Sir Walter C'arncross, Speaker of the Legislative Council, and Lady CarnCI'OSS will celebrate their golden wedding on April 30. The members of the Eltham Ladies' Croquet Club, of which Lady Carncross is one of the vice-presidents, resolved to anticipate the due date, and last week made a golden wedding presentation. The gift took the form of a gold shield with Lady Carncross' initials engraved thereon, and a bouquet of flowers in a golden shade. 'J he slijeld is for . attaching to a croquet mallet. The presentations were made by the president of the club, Mrs. Peacock, and Mrs. • McKay, a vice-president.
