NEW ZEALAND, BEWARE!
gj r —Your sub-leader on "Britain and the Exchange" is worthy of reprint. Three • sentences in it ouent to be broadcast throughout the Dominion. Let me quote: evidence of resentment in . .. . kew Ze a . onlv market is undeniable. Britain s fiscal views and policy are changing rapidly. New Zealand should realise this, and beware." Since visiting England three years ago I have been amazed at the British change of mind on fiscal policy, and particularly in the matter of home protection legislation. English to-day are in a desperate plight And the surest way to arouse the fightine instinct of the Englishman is to do something which he believes to be unfair. Woe betide those who arouse his resentment. Public meetings should be convened in all parts of the country by representatives of farming and commercial interests to acquaint the mass of the people with the se r of the situation, and to insist that the Government takes whatever steps are necessary to allay the resentment, and re-establish those friendly rela | lo with the British consumer and farmer on which depend our very existence.
