ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
EASTER COMPETITIONS SOUTHERN TEAMS TAKE PART Keen rivalry between the competing teams and a high standard of applied first-aid were the features of the annual Easter ambulance competitions held in the Domain on Saturday afternoon, under the direction of the Auckland Division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Operations were directed from an ambulance tent and the teams presented a trim and workmanlike appearance in their uniforms. There was a good attendance of visitors. Ambulance divisions from as far south as Dunedm took part. Women's nursing divisions and cadet units also had a place in the tests. The following ambulance officers were preeent:—Colonel G. Barclay. Chief Commissioner- Mr. C. J. Tunks, District Commissioner: Mr. A. W. Probcrt, Auckland District Superintendent: and Mr. U. Hltchon and Dr. S. H. Ward, district officers. The judges were Dr. Garfield Stewart, Dr. J. Will, Dr. T. Hughes. Dr. S. H. Ward, Dr. C Horton. Dr E. 11. Eoche, Dr. J* ell Houghton and Dr. Gladys Montgomery. The R. Bailey Cadet Challenge Cup event wa3 judged by the district officers. The presentation of prizes took place at a social gathering held on Saturday evening in the main ambulance station in Rutland Street. Seven ambulance divisions were represented at a parade at St. Matthew s Church yesterday morning.
