DIOMEDE IN STORM
HEAD WINDS AND HIGH SEAS CRATES OF EGGS LOST [by RADIO —PRESS association] H.M.S. DrOMEDE, Thursday The warship Diomede, which is conveying the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, and Lady Bledisloo to Samoa, ran into bad weather shortly after leaving Auckland. The conditions on Tuesday night and all day Wednesday were very stormy, with strong head winds and heavy seas, which eventually necessitated a reduction of speed to seven knots. Tho Diomede frequently shipped seas. She was a very wet ship for a time, but came through the ordeal with credit. The most serious loss was tho crash of crates containing eggs. The weather has slightly improved and the ship is going at ordinary cruising speed. All arc well on board and hope to reach Nukualofa at 11.15 a.m. on Saturday.
