EXCAVATING GERMAN VILLAGE
! One of the 58 German settlements and villages in tho Hunsruck, west of the Rhine between the Moselle and Nahe, which, according to ancient chronicles, disappeared utterly in the early Middle Ages, is being excavated. Some years ago traces of it were discovered in a dense forest on a hill, but lack of means made it impossible to excavate it. \ , Excavations are being carried on by volunteer students, the foundations of an old church have already _ been laid bare, and it has been established that the village found was Schindelberg, which is last mentioned in contemporary records of 1382.
