SMALL CREDIT FOR YEAR REDUCTION OF OVERDRAFT [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WAIHI, Thursday A statement presented by the treasurer at the final meeting of the Waihi Borough Council last evening showed the financial position at the close of the year on March 31 to be sound and satisfactory. Receipts for the year totalled £24,614, and payments were £24,039. The debit balance in the district fund account, which stood at £llll. at the beginning of the year, was reduced to £636, and the credit balance in the street plant account fell from £395. The combrned figures of the two accounts showed a reduction in the overdraft for the period of £345, or froni*£7l6 at March 31, 1932, to £371 at March 31, T933. * " the year's operations, the Mayor, Mr. W. M. Wallnutt, said the council had every reason to be satisfied with the position, as in these times of §stress, few local bodies had found it possible to hold their ground, let alone improve the financial position. The borough was also happily situated in ths,t its obligations in loan moneys did not now total more than £IO,OOO. .
