THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE SHARP RISE IN WAIHIS Brisk trading developed in State loans at the single call on the Auckland Stork Exchange on Thursday, six parcels changing hands at firm levels. Offers 10s higher at £9B 10s wore made for the 3A per cent stocks. .Two of these issues, 193.8-43 and 1938-52, were available at par and both were taken nt £99. Buyers of the 4 per cent stocks advanced their limits.-by 10s to £99 10s, and sellers came on the market nt £99 15s. In the '49's and 'ss's business was clone at £99 10s and in Hie ' 10's and '46's at £99 15s. Buyers were also willing to pay 10s higher at £99 10s for the 4 per cent bonds, but holders quoted at par. There was a sale in Auckland City, 1936, 5J per cent, debentures £1 higher at £99 10s. With the exception of a slight easing in quotations for New Zealands levels in the banks group wero maintained. Commercials had sale 2d higher at 14s 8(1, No business was done in the insurance section and most issues were steady. Offers for South British dropped Is to 63s 6d on ex-div. operations. Advances on sale were recorded in the general sections. Westport Coals were released Is 6d higher at 12s 6d and Auckland Gas had salo at 225, a gain of 9d. There was a transaction in Colonial Sugars 5s higher at £55. In mining Waihis rose sharply, gaining 10d in two sales at 22s 9d and 2;<s 3d. Offers at 23s showed an advance of 6d. Levels in Mount Lyells were a shade firmer and Waihi Junctions were unchanged on the bidding. King Solomons were placed unchanged at Is lid.
