PETER PAN LEFT AT START mouth caught in tapes RAWSON STAKES INCIDENT (Received April 2, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 2 A sensation was caused at tho Rosehill races yesterday, when the champion colt Peter Pan lost six lengths at tho start ot the Rawson Stakes through his mouth becoming caught in tho barrier tapes. The race resulted in a complete "boil-over," Lough Neagh winning narrowly from Kuvera, with Dcrmid third. Tho other starters, Braeburn, Rogilla, Oro and Denis Boy, finished indifferently in that order. Peter Pan was playfully nibbling at the tapes and refused to desist. When the barrier rose ho was caught unawares, ilis mouth was slightly. cut. Tho jockey, E. Bartle, decided not to push the champion when he saw there was little chance of making np tho lost ground. Pretzel won the Rosehill Autumn Handicap from Satmoth and Veilmond. Tho New Zoalandor Frimsel was third in tho Nursery Handicap, six furlongs, for two-year-olds, and Prestige was unplaced. Kemball, of Wellington, ran second in the Two-year-old Handicap, five furlongs, at Epsom yesterday. » ELLERSLIE TRAINING SOME INTERESTING WORK SUNNY SKY'S SOLID SEVEN With the approach of the Auckland Racing Club's autumn meeting there is increasing activity on tho tracks at Ellerslie, and there was eomo very interesting work on Saturday, when the conditions were very favourable for training operations. Most of the galloping was accomplished on the course proper, where the flags were out 6ft., and on the No. 1 grass. On the course proper Deputy Ruler sprinted five furlongs in 1.4 3-5, the last half-mile in 50 2-ss. Notamint and Lady Lucas, were also sent five furlongs, and the former went the better of the pair to record 1.6 1-5. Gay Broney and My Money pleased better than Mahkill over half a mile in 51 3-ss. Glenromney was to have accompanied them but broke away too soon, and under restraint recorded 535. Wee Pat finished in front of Courthavcn at the end of a mile in 1.48 4-5. Tho first half was run in 52 2-ss, and Wee Pat was going well within herself at the end. Manawlxenua and Wee Musk placed five furlongs behind in 1.4 4-5. Manawhenua was going easily at the finish, and is doing everything asked of him in good style. Carrying a light boy. Sunny Sky ran seven furlongs in 1.31 2-5. She had a good move-isp and went fast early, running the first two in 24 l-ss, three in 375, and half a mile in -19 2-ss. On the No. 1 grass Karangapai covered a round in 1.56 3-5, the last eix furlongs in 1.18 3-5. Angie finished ahead of Darma at the end of five furlongs in 1.5 1-5. Psychologist went nicely over five furlongs in 1.4 4-5. and Tahae Mea. was better than Vandyke over the same distance in 1.6. Master Bricrly and Marchette ran ecven furlongs in 1.32 4-5, Master Brierly finishing a shade in front. Neil and Zane Grey were given strong work over a distance, running the last round in 2.4 4-o. Chief Joy and Roman Mascot placed six furlongs behind in 1.17 4-5, with little between them at the finish. United also went six furlongs and took 1.22 4-5. Eeculus ran five furlongs in 1.5 4-5, while Solanio led Billy Boy and Demylus over a round and three furlongs. Solanio went away with_a big lead and ran the last round On the tan Prince of Orange encompassed a round in 2.0 2-5, the last six furlongs in 124 2-5. Valroe and Wee Prince also worked over a round, registering 1.57 2-5, the last Bix furlongs in 1.19 3-5. Chief Cook went evenly over a round in 2.1 3-5, the last six furlongs in 1.24 4-5.
