CUSTOMS REVENUE
INCREASE AT CHRISTCHURCH [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday An increase of £85,480 is shown in customs revenue collected at Christ church for the financial year 1932-33 as compared with 1931-32. Motor sp.nt tax showed a reduction of beer duty £5349, and tyre duty £2ool. The figures for the e< are:—Customs, 1932-33, £803,342, compared with £717,862 in 1931-32; beer duty, £80,663 (£86,012); motor spirit tax, £199,107 (£226,028); tyre duty, £8305 (£10,856). . The sales tax collected in March amounted to £6419. The quarter figures are as follows: Customs, 1933, £269,425; 1932, £186,041; beer duty, (£19,254); motor spirit tax, £st>,/88 (£52,625). For the month of March the figures were:—Customs, 1933, £124,762; 1932, £61,984; . beer duty, £o2/7 (£7965); motor spirit tax, £lb,yaJ (£18,683); tyre duty, £655 (£829).
