IMPROVEMENT NOTICED EXPERIENCE OF NORTHCOTE An improvement has taken place daring tho past week in the water in Lake Pupuke, which is the source of supply for the North Shore boroughs. Surprise at the marked change within a few days was expressed by the Northcote waterworks engineer, Mr. J. Williamson. From last Saturday, he said, the brownish appearance of the water had disappeared. The water was its normal colour and so clear that one could see for 15ffc. to 16ft. below the surface. The question of the filtration of the Northcote supply is to be considered by tho Borough Council at. the next meeting. Samples of water have been taken daily from the centre of the lake during the past week to assist Government experts to find a solution of the trouble.
